Jean le Clerc teaches a rock & roll class on Mondays from 6 September 2004 at Bar 38 16 Hertmere Road, West India Quay, Canary Wharf, Docklands, London E14 4AX. The class is held in the basement bar, which as a wooden floor. Jean will start to teach at 6pm for beginners and 7pm to 8pm for beginners/Improvers. The London Swing Dance Society (01895 613703) at The Urdang Academy 20 Shelton Street Covent Garden London WC2 from 7pm until 10pm. Classes begin on the hour with Beginners Lindy Hop, Intermediate Lindy Hop and then a Hollywood Swing/Shag/Charleston class. The cost is £4 per class (£3 members) and £2 (£1.50 members) for any additional classes. The teachers are Simon Selmon and members of The Sugarfoot Stompers.

Lindy Circle has Improvers Lindy Hop classes in Chiswick at the Arts Educational School. The cost is £7 and it's not necessary to have a partner. The London Swing Dance Society has a new 10-week course of beginners and intermediate Lindy Hop classes starting on Sunday 6 October. The teacher is Hattie Ladbury and the venue is The Factory Dance Centre at 407 Hornsey Road in London N19. Each class is an hour with beginners at 2pm and intermediates at 3pm. The cost is £6 for one class and £9 for both. You can also pre-pay the whole course for £51 for one or £77 for both levels. More information on 0207 387 1011.

The Beginners class from 3pm-4pm is aimed at absolute beginners but will benefit anyone who wants to improve their basic technique. There's a General (Improvers) class at 4pm-5pm aimed at those who have some experience of Lindy Hop with the emphasis on fundamental steps, musicality, interpretation and technique. The Paris Rock Club now has Hammersmith Dance Classes on Thursdays at 8pm Beginners and Intermediate at 9pm. This is followed by rock 'n' roll dancing until 10pm. It all happens at 246 King Street London W6 (leave Ravenscourt Park station and turn right into King Street. The cost is £5.
